Letter Meme Thing
Here's how it works: You comment on this entry and I will respond, giving you a letter. Then you take that letter and write ten words beginning with it, including an explanation of what each word means to you and why.
And my letter is 'L', given to me by Nick (blog background picture possibly NSFW ^^;)
1. Linkin Park
A great band, listening to them since their first album came out over here, good memories of listening to them with my friend Dave while revising for our statistics A Levels which is particularly important today because I've been revising for yet more statistics exams XD Also important to me because they're the favourite band of one of my bestest friends ^_^
2. Love
Cheese! But screw it Love's important k? ^^
3. Lain
Serial Experiments Lain is one of the best animes evaar, the only problem is that it's only 13 episodes long T_T Love Lain because the code scribbled on the blackboard is right, and because the opening theme is awesome, and for 1,000,000 other reasons ^_^
4. Linux
This is a fairly obvious one (So what's it doing at number 4? Well, I'm not very good at thinking of obvious things XD)... I've used Linux for coming up to 4 years, coming up to 2 years as my primary Operating System, and I love it. It might be trickier than Windows getting things set up right at first but once you have nothing ever happens without you knowing why. How many people out there using Windows have a program crash or the computer restart for no apparent reason? God I hate Windows :P
It's funny, a friend of mine mentioned cracking a piece of software the other day. I used to always get demos of software and crack it with scripts from the interweb, allowing me to use this expensive software for no money... I don't think I've cracked a piece of software for 3 years. I just haven't had to, 99% of software for Linux is open source and freely available for distribution, no trial runs or whatever, it's just free.
5. Lance
Lance taught me to use Linux ^_^ Learning linux without a friend is horrible, especially when you're just getting started installing a distribution and trying to get your hardware working... Getting online with Linux can be fuun (read: annoying) sometimes and these days a box not connected to the internet is like a sandwich with no filling :P
Aside from the teaching, I've known Lance for years and years now and he's always been a great friend and a good source of random rants about bullshit XD
6. Laputa
Laputa: Castle in the Sky was the first film by Miyazaki Hayao I ever saw, and I loved it! What an imagination that guy has! I've since seen Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle and I wish I had time to get and watch all of them, one day I will! Everyone, anime fan or not, should go see at least Laputa if not the whole Ghibli collection!
7. London
I have always loved it here, ever since my first trip in 2001, it's the best place in the world and no matter where else I go I hope I come back ^_^ I know a lot of people hate it, for various valid reasons (the weather, the traffic, the smog, the people, the crime, everything else :P) but is there really anywhere better? Devon (where I grew up) had it's charm and quiet ways, but London just fits me ^_^
8. Lister
Dave Lister from Red Dwarf XD What a truly brilliant show, every single episode of it is hilarious :D Love Crag Charles and I really think Red Dwarf was his high point, even funnier than his stand-up which is still really good ^^ Shame he seems to have gone downhill... Robot Wars and Takeshi's Castle XD;;
9. Little Gamers
I don't actually keep up-to-date with Little Gamers, I don't check it daily in the hope of an update, but I have seen them twice at the UK Web and Mini-Comix Thing (2005 and 2006) and both times they've given me a great deal on a book and a T-shirt and been really friendly. I've enjoyed reading both the books temendously and one day, when I have the time to actually get into more than one webcomic, Little Gamers will be the one I start reading as well as Megatokyo ^_^
10. Lex
Lex is what Sar calls me, so whenever I hear it it makes me happy ^_^ Sara is one of my bestest friends in the whole world, I've known her for years and years and years and I love her loads! *huggles Sar if she's reading this*
