Writings from America

Hey, sorry I haven't blogged from America until now, it's been a busy and very fun few days :) So, let's just see if I can remember them... :P

Tuesday
Got up at 6ish, said bye to Carmen, and then John drove Christine, Gary and I to Heathrow. Our flight wasn't until 12:40 but we'd heard that after the bombings in London that Heathrow security was tight and decided that we should leave as early as possible to make sure we didn't miss our flight and such. Said bye to John at the airport car park and then Christine, Gary and I talked and relaxed at the airport for a few hours. At about 11:30 we said bye to Gary and went to get on the plane which the displays said was boarding at 11:55.

Once we were on the plane we chatted a bit, but we were both pretty tired and Christine actually missed the take off because she was asleep - "Hey look we're in the air" - lol. The movies on the flight were Guess Who and Fever Pitch, which are both cute romantic comedies I would consider buying on dvd if I found them for $10 (damn no pound symbol on this silly american keyboard :P). Also on the plane I listened to my CD player, read a bit of my book Taking The Red Pill, and started a new game on Pokemon Leaf Green (jp) with a character called かをり, which I hope is how to spell Kaori in Japanese (my last game on Leaf Green I realised after 40 hours that my character was called Kaoro not Kaoru, damnit る and ろ look similar!)

Anyway, once we got to O'Hare airport in Chicago we were met by Chrisitne's mum (mom? :P) and her boyfriend Cory and we drove back to Christine's house, dumped my stuff, then went off to pick up Brooke (Christine's best friend/step sister) and Cody (Christine's ex who she's still friends with and who I've talked to on msn), and then we went off and has Chinese food at Classic China before going to an arcade called Nickel City (on the way to which Cody picked up his girlfriend Nora). Nickel City was loads of fun although I still suck at DDR... Must buy mat for StepMania and get good!

After Nickel City we (except Nora) went to Cody's house and hung out, I had my first taste of Bawls which is really damn good! After that we just hung out watching stuff on Cody's computer and chatting, it was really good :) Then Christine and I dropped Cory home and then met Brooke and Cory back at Chrisitne's house, where we hung out chatting some more in Christine's room. Cory left at around 3 and Brooke, Christine and I carried on chatting until 5:30 or so before I went to bed for a few hours sleep.

Oh yeah, also at some point we went to Steak 'n' Shake where Chrisitne works so she could see her friends, but we didn't eat anything there and I don't really remember between what things we did it :P Brooke and Cory were there though so I guess it was on the way to get Cody, and Brooke french braided my hair, lol :P

Wednesday
On Wednesday the basic plan was to go to White Castle, since as I've probably mentioned in previous blog entries, I've seen Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle about 5 times since I got back to Devon and John showed me it. We drove out and picked up Cory and then drove for a while to get to the White Castle. We stopped off at an Oasis (basically a highway services I guess?) and I munched some of Cory's big-american-style-soft-pretzel-thing and tried Christine and Brooke's caramel coffee starbucks thing, both yummy :)

So we got to White Castle and ate some of those delicious little burgers (they really are great!) and we ended up staying there for 2 hours just chatting about random crap and abusing the free refills policy that seems to be in all the fast food places in America... They didn't have Cherry Coke but I mixed Fanta Grape and Coke Classic which was pretty good. Also in White Castle Christine and Brooke were saying that they should have their own reality show and that MTV were missing out, I pointed out that they could just put the episodes online, and we decided the show should be called Totally Awesome... I doubt that it will ever happen but it's put me in a web designing mood :P

After White Castle we went to Brooke's house and hung out chatting some more, I met her sister and two of the cutest cats ever, one of them actually had bleu eyes, they're amazing! Unfortunately we had to then say bye to Brooke because she was going off to Disney World for the weekend, but all was made well again when we went to Steak 'n' Shake and I had my first taste of a Mint Choc Shake, mmm, so good. That night we got to bed pretty early and I finally got some sleep, yay.

Thursday
Yesterday we decided we'd head into Chicago with Cory and go to Navy Pier and look around Chicago and stuff, it's a really cool place and the atmosphere (particularly because it was a beautiful day) is really great there :) There are these free trolly bus things that run between 10 and 6 every day and we used them to get from the station to Navy Pier and back. At Navy pier we looked around, there were lots of cool little stalls selling wooden things and glass crystal type things and outside there was the water and boats/ships and stuff. We had lunch at Bubba Gump's which is a seafood place heavily themed around the Forrest Gump movie, it was really cool! I had an absolutely delicious Dixie Fishwich which was basically a burger but with chargrilled fish instead of beef, it was amazing if a little over priced (for America, for England it was dirt cheap -_- :P)

Oh also on Thursday I actually took my camera and finally got some photos of people and places which was cool, I'll hopefully get off my arse and put some online soon.

Definitely going back to Chicago again soon, at Navy Pier they have an IMAX theatre and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens today (Friday) so we should go see that sometime. Also wanna see other parts of Chicago, it just seems like a really great place to be, but then I actually like living in London so what do I know? lol.

After getting back from Chicago we went to Christine's house to get some stuff and then to Cory's, she straightened his hair with her hair straightener thingy (yes he is just a lifesized doll for her to play with :P) and we listened to some music. On the way out it was kinda dark and I tripped down a couple of stairs I forgot were there and hurt my ankle pretty badly (it still hurts -_- give me sympathy~) but another Mint Choc Shake and Double Steak Burger made me feel a bit better :)

And that's about it so far... Bye everyone! Don't forget to leave your comments after you've waded through all this crap I just wrote! :)
